IN JAPANESE W/ ENGLISH SUBTITLES!!! Last month I uploaded the U.S. version of THIS MOVIE. Compare the difference between THIS version and the one starring John Carradine and Morris Ankrum. The story in THIS version is more "fleshed out" and at times it's quite violent for its time. This movie is BANNED in Japan - due to the movie's depiction of the Ainu tribe.

A Lost Classic-?
This is the first time I've seen the original version of 'Half Human'. There are 2 other versions of this film that I've seen, both Americanized. The first was on the TV when I was a kid in the 1960's. This version kept most of the story
but was re-edited to allow a different American opening to the movie. This opening had actor John Carradine most, likely playing some type of scientist, showing another scientist the corpse of an Ape-like creature resembling the Yeti child in the movie. After this opening scene it goes into the re-edited original with Carradine's voice-over detailing the events. No dubbing was used so you heard the Japanese actors speaking their lines. This was decades ago so I don't recount in detail how this Americanized version compares to the original. I'm sure there were some scenes & story elements cut-out but like I said most of the original movie is still there. I don't know if this American print is still available in any form. The 2nd version took scenes from Honda's to make a different story altogether but with the same title 'Half Human' In this version an American expedition to the Himalayas captures a Yeti & brings it to Los Angeles or is it New York. Either way it escapes & runs amok
in a slaughter-house where it finally gets shot by the cops. Sounds exciting doesn't it; no it wasn't. The scenes with Americans in the Himalayas doesn't look like the Himalayas & of course the scenes from the Japanese movie didn't look very Himalayan either. And in the scene where the Yeti is in the American slaughter-house you only see a very dark shadow & no man in a Faux-fur Yeti suit. This is the 'Half Human' version that is available apparently. And that's really disappointingly sad. Now whether the primitive natives in Honda's movie do represent the Ainu of Japan is hard to say. They're style of dress doesn't resemble anything in pictures you see of actual Ainu people. They look like In-bred, fur-wearing goons. This original Japanese movie is not an epic classic but nor is it a bad movie & certainly worth your time to watch.

If you want to see the film online press the OGG Video download and that will play. I've down loaded this film before and it played fine.

Probably just the techno-gods messing with me but I can't see any video. I can hear the sound OK but the screen remains black. I'll try again later on another laptop.
